Plate glass look is achieved by polishing and griding large plates of annealed glass until it is free of most distortion
It is then transferred to the glassmaker’s pontil to be rotated at speed
one sheet at a time
Due to the nature of mouth blown glass
Also available with pits designated as “B” quality as it was classified when first manufactured
Crown Glass
The glassblower then forces air through the pipe and blows the hot glass into a cylindrical mold
along with occasional pits creating just the right amount of distortion and making it the perfect window glass choice for any historical restoration project
The maximum size that can be achieved is approximately 36” x 36”
