Sea Bass Oven Glove

Sea Bass Oven GloveTo create this design, I've used one of my Gyotaku prints and worked on it digitally along with some water colour to come up with the design. The oven glove also has my Hanko on it, this is a Japanese stamp of my name. It also has the Welsh for Sea Bass Draenog Y Mr; which literally translates as 'Hedgehog of the Sea' The oven glove has a toweling finish on the inside and is quilted, it's made of 100% Panama Cotton and is Natural not bleached. The print is made using the traditional methods and is wet mounted using the uruachi technique which uses a simple water and flour paste that I make myself

This print is framed in white and glazed

This print measures 35x25cm and is on Thai Mulberry paper and has been mounted using the authentic Japanese wet mounting technique which uses a simple flour and water paste and requires a period of around 24 hours to dry and stretch

Ever since I discovered Gyotaku printing I've wanted to print an octopus

22nd May was a Sunday and I was staying in Derbyshire with one of my dearest friends and we were out walking

I was attracted by it's distinctive scale and huge eye

Each item is printed individually

Ink is re applied each time and the feather is positioned hand so they all be different

I love feathers for their connection to nature
