Gyotaku impression taken from the surface of an Anglesey Crab

Gyotaku impression taken from the surface of an Anglesey CrabCrab is quite a difficult specimen to print from. Like a lobster it's much more 3 dimensional than a fish so there is a lot of work to do making things don't slip and slide around. This crab is printed on Chinese Mulberry Paper, measuring 50x34cm approximately. After printing, the paper is then mounted using the traditional wet mounting technique of Uruachi. For this I make a flour based glue and use this to bond the print to a second sheet of paper.

This print is A5 and is on Chinese Mulberry paper and has been mounted using the authentic Japanese wet mounting technique which uses a simple flour and water paste and requires a period of around 24 hours to dry and stretch

Actually it's my go to fish for sessions with younger children as it's much easier to print from a flat fish than a round fish

I love to print in sumi it gives more depth I think than the acrylic ink that I also use

This print is on Thai Mulberry Paper and I've used a Gold acrylic ink which is lightfast and permanent

There are 2 Sea Bass designs and 2 Lobster and 1 Octopus

I've used a high quality blue and gold acrylic ink for this print that is both light fast and permanent

once with red ink and once with yellow ink

The black and gold palette enhances the texture and form of the leaves

is approximately A3 in size

I really don't want to see them go to waste

This is the standard framing I use and will be a white frame with an off white mount
