Orvis Madison Impregnated Rod 8'6" 2/1 #9An Orvis Madison bamboo fly rod 8'6", 2 piece, 1 tip, and built for a #9 line. Serial #67808, built in 1972. The one tip is 1 3 4" short. Aside from the short tip the rod is in good used condition with normal cosmetic wear but nothing substantial that I could find. Powerful medium action. The rod is straight and the ferrule seats fully. Medium color impregnated cane done in a three up node pattern. Wrapped dark red throughout with a carbide stripper

Designed to hold a DT5+55 or DT6+20

The inking on the butt remains clear though somewhat faded

A nickel silver plug pulls out of the seat bottom to allow a short fighting butt of just 2 3/4" to be plugged in

The western-style grip is in excellent condition and only lightly soiled and currently covered with protective shrinkwrap

The grip is 6" long and shaped to a western profile

Cigar/western style grip is comfortable in the hand

The nodes are randomly spaced with several areas of adjacency
